Let's keep talking about Mental Health.
"It's okay to not be okay."

Rosetown Central High School, in conjunction with the RCHS School Community Council, would like to welcome Landan Waite from Head & Heart. On Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, Landan will speak to students in Grades 7-12 about mental health and share his personal story and journey.

Landan's Biography
My name is Landan Waite. I'm 28 years old and from Rosetown, SK. I am a farmer in the Rosetown area and work in the oilfield when I'm not farming. From 2015-2018, I spent the majority of my time overseas working for a tour company as a guide for backpackers. I've led trips everywhere from Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, and Nicaragua, and have done plenty of solo travels as well.

In November of 2018, I created Head&HeartSK which is an apparel line in tribute to my sister who died by suicide. I work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and ignite the conversation about mental health. In my presentation, I include the story about my sister and her battle and struggles with depression. I tell my personal story about how I was affected by the loss of my sister. This includes my struggles, what I did to cope with a tragic loss, dealing with grief at a young age, and opening up about mental health.

My main goal of telling my story is to open up the conversation about mental health and to focus on youth who may be struggling in high school like I did. I want youth to know that it is okay to talk about their mental health when they are struggling. I try and help kids understand how important their mental health is and help them understand that people struggle with their mental health every single day, and that they are never alone if/when they do struggle.

Landan will bring some merchandise from his company Head&HeartSK. Items can be purchased at the school, or you can visit his website at https://headandheartsk.com/ Head & Heart SK to view the new apparel line designed to raise awareness for mental health and end the stigma surrounding it.
Head&HeartSK will donate 100% of all proceeds to various schools around the province of Saskatchewan. For more information about mental health, as well as Landan's company, follow him on Instagram @headandheartsk and on Facebook Head&HeartSK.
